What’s on March 2022 for F16s?

VIC state Titles

The Victorian State titles are coming up in just 12 short days. Held on the gorgeous waters at Rosebud. We have a good contingent of boats coming across from QLD, NSW and SA to rush off with the title again currently we are expecting a fleet of 8-10 F16s and the usual 14-16 F18s. Seems the Victorians are a bit of a soft target these days…Care to challenge that?

Although! Rumour has it Brett Goodall will be getting on a Viper to seek retribution for his slim loss at the National, so who knows. Maybe the title will remain in VIC. No matter what happens on the scorecard it looks to be a great location, excellent water, the usual smorgasbord of restaurants and Cafés, the perfect storm for a great sailing three days. We have a frat house booked again so the cocktails will be flowing.

No matter what – try get there – the more of us that make the effort the richer the reward and better each event gets.

Around French Island Catamaran Challenge

Hosted by Cowes Yacht Club just four short days after the VIC state titles is this iconic race which is boasting $ 10 000 in prize money. If the wind is right maybe the trio of foiling Vipers will bag the cash – we wait to see.

Raced on VYC it would be fantastic to see the folks who have made the effort for VIC States to come and rip around the Island and sink a few coldies in Cowes.

The Sailing we know will be fantastic, when will you get the chance to sail your Viper around Double Cone Reef, Gumbrell Island, the Molle Islands….

Magnums has really cheap accommodation located in the middle of town a stroll or stagger from the yacht club, party tent and boat park. Don’t get caught napping and call me at the last minute like you did for Port Stephens because accommodation is ludicrous at the last minute – enter now, book now, put in for leave and join the first F16/F18 fleet to rage at the Airlie Beach Race week. This is going to be the one!

Where – I’m actually not going to answer that

The Great Decksweeper Ballot

I sent the list of F16 Financial members to the international association – FYI there are 39 paid up members of the Australian F16 association. Nice going considering where we have come from three years ago.

If you are a paid member you will be receiving via email correspondence and details from F16 International on how to vote for the decksweeper rule change. We certainly hope Europe follows our lead on this as it will certainly help the class re-establish the F16 identity as a no compromise race weapon that’s raced by fun people.

We need a 66% majority for the rule to pass.

We hope to see you at these events racing like warriors, laughing like clowns and sharing the experience over a few frozen margaritas.
