Its so good to be an F16 Sailor! Get your calendar out.

Did someone say Airlie Beach Race Week?????

Its ON! Confirmed! Done!

We will park our boats at the club, take the challenge to the boys on their $ 300k multihulls, party like rock stars and relax like the royalty we are.

F18 boys better be on their A game, theres yardstick applied so they may just get whacked by us lightweights with 9 Races Scheduled

xi) Off Beach Multihull boats that comply with either the Formula 16 Catamaran rules or the Formula 18 Catamaran rules will compete as a separate division with results calculated using Australian Sailing yardstick

May I propose we enter the Vipers and Nacras on 68.5 as per the VYC

Entries are open: here’s the link: https://abrw.com.au/notice-of-race/

Get on it, there’s already 6 x F18s entered and we are starting to look bad.

Safety gear, its not onerous and all these things you should have anyway. The personal epirb is a good investment and pretty inexpensive from places like Whitworths

personal EPIRB for each crew, navigation device (cell phone in a waterproof case/GPS watch)Spare shackles and short ropes
safety line per crew,Signal mirrorMultitool
compass,WhistleKnife

Sponsorship and Advertising

Our tenacious National Champions are working the market for sponsorships and are in contact with the organisers regarding the media packages. If you know anyone who would like to be involved in the Race week for promotional and advertising perspective please give the terrible twosome of Nick and Simon a call and let them know. The packages start from just a few logos on signage and on the program right the way up to promotional booths at the marquee and skipper and crew bag giveaways.

Entries are open and you can enter here: https://abrw.com.au/entries/

F16 National 2021-22 Salamander Bay 7-11 January 2022

Its ON! Confirmed! Done!

Adam Hughes your most honourable secretary deserves free beer and a reserved space on the startline at next year’s national. Yes the man swooped in no brakes needed and rescued the venue from the clutches of cancellation whilst negotiating a whopping deal on the facility.

We are going to need some assistance though to get the event run from folks, so anyone who would like to assist on the water or land please let us know.

We moved the dates after we needed to find a Race Officer. NACRA Nationals conflicted with our first day so we pushed it two days and now the Nacras are coming to town too!!! So these are the dates and its confirmed.

There’s heaps to do in Port Stephens, apart form the usual beach stuff, there’s scenic walks, camel riding, dune boarding, wineries, breweries, sky diving, kiddies paddling areas… In addition we think it would be great to have some social events at the venue to bring the competitors and entourages together for some fun. So let us know ASAP your thoughts and give us some ideas by taking “The Survey”

Its time to book accommodation because Port Stephens is going to be awesome. Strong fleet numbers are indicated with a verbal confirmation of over 14 F16s (16 now with the Nacras). Its a brilliant place for a family holiday so kids and better halves get to enjoy the week too.

Organise your friends and get on it as the accommodation may evaporate as we get closer to December/January.

There is also a hotel and a holiday park right at the club to check out if you can’t find mates for the apartments or you reacted like your starts…….a bit slow.

NOR will be issued soon once we have the officialdom sorted this week.

SOLD!!!

We extend a big covid unsafe welcoming hug and handshake to our new man in the fleet Mario Ruel, proud new owner of Viper AUS 166. That makes 7 Vipers on the Pittwater!!! KABOOM. Yes folks Nick is a man on fire!

We shall complete his initiation into the world of high speed sailing and last to leave the bar life with a solid bludgeoning on Sunday at the first round of the RPAYC Selden winter series.

On that subject…..

Selden Winter Series RPAYC

If you would like to come racing and join in in the bi-weekly races we have a pack of 7 local F16/18s that would love a bit more competition. Its an early start to get the Westerly morning land breeze. So if you don’t like rigging at 6am or don’t want to drag you boat home, for a nominal fee of $ 70 per month RPAYC will let you store your boat on the crystal bay hardstand, mast up ready to smash the National Champions on their home patch. Call Kylie at RPAYC to organise storage.
